Know the difference and

live television!

I jumped at the chance to appear on the AM show to discuss the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes on behalf of Diabetes New Zealand. The AM show is a New Zealand morning news and talk show that airs on national TV (channel three) and Radio Live. I was excited about the opportunity to educate the public about a major health issue that affects over a quarter of a million New Zealanders. I woke early on World Diabetes Day, 14th November and got ready for my 7.40am interview. It was only then that I remembered I’d never been on live TV before. Minor detail right? ha ha The nerves kicked in. I was seriously out of my comfort zone and convinced I was going to end up on a “lady vomits on live television” YouTube clip and go viral before I’d even had breakfast.

I swallowed my fear, breathed deeply and thought of what I would say and do if Miss 6 was with me. I knew I could do this. It was time to be brave…

I loved every minute! Check out the interview here http://www.newshub.co.nz/
